The newest kid on the flooring block is called Waterproof Core Flooring, or WPC, and it is considered the best laminate flooring available. It gets its name from being a wood poly composite, which is what the WPC stands for. The poly composite construction, coupled with the embossed vinyl top layer, is what makes it a waterproof laminate flooring that resists moisture much the way vinyl and luxury vinyl or LVT/LVP tiles and planks do. In his form, it can be mounted in places where wood could never survive, such as high moisture applications like bathrooms, saunas or pool areas. Perhaps the best way to describe a WPC floor is that it is a cross between laminate flooring and a Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring or Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring.

FAQ
  • What is WPC flooring?
WPC stands for wood-plastic composite. These 100% waterproof engineering luxury vinyl boards and tiles are DIY-friendly, with easy interlocking system and can be installed on most existing subfloor.
  • Is WPC flooring good?
WPC flooring is the best in the world of vinyl flooring, and it is very popular among homeowners seeking traditional hardwood appearance without maintenance. It is also one of the most popular floor options for commercial space and enterprises. WPC flooring is beautiful and low maintenance cost.
  • What are the characteristics of WPC flooring?

    (1) WPC flooring is very durable, has a long service life, has the natural appearance of wood, has higher hardness than ordinary plastic products, and has good anti-aging performance, so it is the first choice of flooring material for outdoor decoration, gardens, landscape design, courtyards and other open ground.
    (2) WPC flooring will not produce cracks, warpage and other problems, and there will be no knots, twill, color difference and other problems.
    (3) WPC flooring inherits the secondary processing performance of wood, which can be sawed, planed, glued and easily maintained.
    (4) WPC flooring does not add any harmful ingredients in the production process, and can be reused, recycled and biodegradable, so it is a very green and environment-friendly floor product.

  • Which is better SPC or WPC?
The choice between SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) flooring largely depends on your individual needs and preferences. Both types of flooring have their advantages and disadvantages.

SPC flooring is a newer type of flooring that is made of a stone composite core, which makes it more rigid and durable than WPC flooring. SPC flooring is also more resistant to scratches, dents, and stains. Additionally, SPC flooring is 100% waterproof, which makes it an excellent choice for areas that are prone to moisture, such as kitchens and bathrooms. However, SPC flooring can be more expensive than WPC flooring, and it can be more difficult to install because of its rigidity.

WPC flooring, on the other hand, is made of a wood composite core that makes it softer and more comfortable underfoot than SPC flooring. WPC flooring is also less expensive than SPC flooring and easier to install because of its flexibility. However, WPC flooring is not as durable or scratch-resistant as SPC flooring, and it is not completely waterproof, which can make it a less ideal choice for areas prone to moisture.

In summary, if you are looking for a highly durable and waterproof flooring option, SPC flooring may be the better choice. However, if you are looking for a softer and more comfortable underfoot flooring option that is easier to install and less expensive, WPC flooring may be the better choice for you. Ultimately, the choice between SPC and WPC flooring comes down to your individual needs and preferences.
  • How long does WPC flooring last?
The lifespan of WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) flooring depends on various factors such as the quality of the materials used, the thickness of the wear layer, the level of foot traffic, and the maintenance routine.

Generally, high-quality WPC flooring can last up to 20-25 years or more with proper care and maintenance. However, this estimate may vary depending on the aforementioned factors. A thicker wear layer can offer more durability and protection from scratches and scuffs, while a lower-quality WPC floor with a thinner wear layer may wear out more quickly. Additionally, high foot traffic areas may result in faster wear and tear.

To maximize the lifespan of your WPC flooring, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's care and maintenance guidelines, including regular sweeping and mopping, avoiding harsh chemicals, and using furniture pads to prevent scratches.

  • Which is cheaper wood or WPC?
The cost of wood and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) can vary depending on the quality of materials used and other factors such as the size and location of the project.

In general, WPC flooring is often less expensive than hardwood flooring, especially when considering the overall installation costs. WPC is also typically less expensive than other alternative flooring options such as natural stone or ceramic tiles. This is because WPC is made with a combination of wood fibers and plastic, which is less expensive than the solid hardwood used in traditional hardwood flooring.

However, it is important to note that the quality of WPC can vary, and higher-end WPC options may be more expensive than low-quality hardwood flooring. Additionally, the cost of installation, maintenance, and repairs can also impact the overall cost of either flooring option.
  • What are the disadvantages of WPC?
Although WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) flooring has many advantages, there are also some potential disadvantages to consider, including:

Susceptible to Scratches: WPC flooring may be susceptible to scratches and scuffs, especially in high traffic areas or with heavy furniture.

Limited Color and Style Options: WPC flooring has a limited range of colors and styles compared to other flooring options such as hardwood or natural stone.

Not Resistant to Extreme Temperatures: WPC flooring may not be suitable for environments with extreme temperatures, such as outdoor areas or areas with fluctuating temperatures.

Can be Affected by Moisture: WPC flooring is moisture-resistant but not entirely waterproof, so it may not be the best choice for areas with high humidity or prone to flooding.

May Fade Over Time: Exposure to sunlight and UV rays may cause WPC flooring to fade over time.

Environmental Impact: Some WPC products may not be entirely eco-friendly, as they are made with plastic materials and can potentially release harmful chemicals during the manufacturing process.
